Overview

The Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is a one-year professional program designed to prepare individuals to work effectively with young children during their formative years. This program emphasizes the importance of early education, care, and overall development of children from birth to eight years of age. It aims to train students in child psychology, pedagogy, health, nutrition, and classroom management, ensuring they can nurture the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth of children.

The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects including Child Development, Early Learning Methods, Educational Psychology, Health and Nutrition, Child Rights and Protection, Preschool Administration, and Inclusive Education. Students are also introduced to creative teaching techniques such as storytelling, music, art, and play-based learning to create engaging and stimulating classroom environments.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, the program emphasizes practical training through internships and supervised teaching practice in preschools and childcare centers. This hands-on experience helps students develop observation skills, patience, empathy, and communication abilities—qualities essential for working with young children.

Graduates of the Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education can pursue careers as preschool teachers, daycare coordinators, early childhood educators, curriculum planners, or childcare consultants. They may also work in NGOs, government childcare programs, and private educational institutions that focus on early childhood learning and development.
